sorry i actually fucking hate people (shauna dickriders) who will say "just say you hate complex female characters!!" or any shit along those lines.
NO I JUST FUCKING HATE SHAUNA
like oh my god yes every character has done bad things. they all ate people, they've hunted their friends, some sa'd travis, lottie murdered a man and went :3. im not saying "oh (character) is better than shauna bc (reason)!!" im saying i hate shauna. thats it. yes i know she went through a lot as a teenager. SO DID EVERYONE ELSE!!!
while its not solely shauna's fault that mari died, she's a part of it. van and tai too. but fuck, to PURPOSELY change spots cause you know it'll be mari who gets it?? jump!!! same with the coach ben trial. that wasn't fair at all, she cheated and we ALL know that. i mean gen clearly didn't want to vote him???
she's fucking insufferable but hey guess what i love about her, THAT SHE ISNT A TYPICAL CHARACTER!! COMPLEX IF YOU WILL!!!
adult shauna pisses me off too. like yeah callie kind of caused her crash out too......she literally drove to melissa's house to probably kill her. because of a tape. a tape that melissa sent to her just so she didn't have to bear that burden anymore. no fucking malice behind it. blaming misty for the brakes??? misty wanted a friend. she lost her best friend, she needs that connection again but obviously DIDNT FUCK WITH HER BREAKS!!!
thats the end of my rant cause oh my god. "idk just dont watch the show if you dont like shaun-"
SHUT THE FUCK UP I WANT TO SEE NATALIE AND LESBIANS
thank you and goodbye
(i don't wanna see none of you attacking me for this.)

I Could Be A Good Mother (Travis Martinez x Reader) (Part 4 - Final Part)
Part 3
Winter is gone, and spring brings new beginnings, new people, and new memories in the wilderness. Post rescue, you and Travis adapt to your new life together.
Notes:
- More talk of childbirth in this chapter
- Takes place during season 3? or maybe a little bit before it, and also a larger time jump towards the end.
- I've said it once but this isn't accurate to the plot at all lol
- I didn't name the baby because I literally did not know what to choose lmao
-------------------------------------
Winter was harsh. There was no denying it. After what had become of Jackie, everyone worried for the day that the cold got to them. Especially when the cabin burned down.
But winter finally left, and when it did it left you with a new purpose. A new purpose that only came after tireless pushing, angrily yelling at Mari who was joking too much for your liking, and squeezing Travis' hand until you were sure you'd broken it. You'd nearly done the same as Shauna did and passed out. You didn't let yourself slip away until you heard the baby cry, and even then you were afraid that in this scenario, passing out could lead to you dying.
So there you laid on the floor of yours and Travis' makeshift hut, feeling the worst you ever had but also somehow the best. Javi was waiting outside somewhere, and you'd only let a few of the girls come in. While Misty tended to you, you tried to stay awake by listening to the girls talk to your baby in an effort to soothe it. Travis was holding the baby, but his eyes weren't leaving you.
"It's a girl." Misty said. "She looks like you."
She was beautiful. You remember that being your first thought when Travis put the baby in your arms. And she really did look like you, just so much more tiny. You were so in love.
And so was Travis. All the restless nights and blood that had been shed melted away, and for a moment it was just him, you, and the baby, not a care in the world.
Everyone loved her, especially Javi. He got over his whole 'I wish it was a boy' mindset the second he held her. He carried her all over, showing her the people, the surroundings. Van and Tai would help by taking turns holding her on the nights where it felt impossible to calm her down. Akilah would hold her bunnies up to the baby, smiling at the giggles that escaped as her tiny hands grabbed at the bunny's ears.
Travis was obviously the most in love, other than you. It was hard for you to connect this Travis back to the grumpy Travis that was always sitting in the bleachers, either watching with a grimace or studying the ground, the Travis that claimed to hate the Yellowjackets. He was constantly asking if you were okay, if you needed him to take her. He carried her everywhere in the sling he had made from some old clothes, patting the top of her head every now and then. He'd splash with her in the lake as you washed clothes nearby, watching and laughing. And on the off chance that he wasn't completely engulfed by her, he would be clinging to you, kissing all over your face, following you as you did chores, practically stuck to you.
You were really starting to enjoy yourself out there. Sure, it was dirty still, and you were still hungry and desperately waiting for rescue, but you were starting to enjoy life again. Being postpartum meant you couldn't do much heavy lifting, and you couldn't stray far from your baby, so you helped Akliah with the animals. It felt nice to have something to keep you busy. You really started to appreciate the little moments of the life you were starting to build: midday naps in the hammock where all 3 of you managed to sleep at once (a rare occurrence), Javi playing with her the best he could while you and Travis tried to get stuff done around camp, watching her laugh as Lottie gently baptized her. Lottie insisted, much to your dismay. "I don't want the wilderness freak dipping my baby in the lake." You'd said to Natalie at dinner after Lottie brought the idea up.
One night, after a particularly good day, Travis was holding the baby while you worked on stitching a hole in a blanket. The sun was starting to set, and you two were the only ones currently around the campfire.
"I want to get away from this." Travis said out of nowhere.
"Me too." You said, still working at the blanket.
"She deserves a real home in the real world. You deserve that."
"Well so do you." You were quick to say. You turned to face him, and tried not to melt over the way his big arms were so gently holding your tiny daughter.
"Well, when we get rescued, what do you want? I mean, where do you want to live? What kind of house?" Travis asked.
"I don't care how big it is, just enough room for the three of us. I want a dog- no, two dogs. And a farm with lots of animals. And I want to be close to home." You knew these things were probably unrealistic to want. Neither of you had finished high school, and your return to the real world was surely gonna be a lot harder than anticipated. But in the moment, you just let yourself think about what you really wanted.
Travis decided that night that he would make it happen. And he did.
The following years were strange, to say the least. Cameras following you everywhere you went. Trying to relearn how to fit in with society while also learning how to be parents. A lot of the Yellowjackets lost touch. Lottie was in the hospital, Nat was in rehab, Shauna got married (You and Travis attending, of course), and the rest of the girls were out there, somewhere, struggling. But you never forgot them, never forgot the pain you all went through together.
The stormy weather was done and over with, and you realized that sitting on the porch one night. The sunset was painting the sky purple and pink, and Travis was in the chicken coop, pulling a baby chick up into the pocket of his overalls. Your daughter was waiting patiently next to you on the porch swing, her legs kicking back and forth. Javi and Travis' mom had left at the same time your parents did, thanking you for the Friday night dinners at your house that they hold so dear.
"Hold your hands out." Travis said, sitting on the other side of her. The chick spilled out of his pocket and into his hands, helping your gentle toddler hold it.
You spent a lot of time admiring your family, especially in moments like this. Travis was glowing, strong from finally having a balanced diet again, and you could see his personality being lit up again the longer you were away from the wilderness. And your daughter, who was growing up faster than you had anticipated, was the light of everyone's life, always reminding you that there was good in the bad.
You were so used to being just content that you often were worried this wasn't real, and you'd wake up in that cabin, afraid and sullen.
But this was real. And both you and Travis were perfectly okay with this. Just the three of you, in this big house with a farm, filled with constant laughter and love.
That night, after the whole farm was asleep in their pens and barns, Travis came inside to find the downstairs empty, but the nursery lit up with the dim nightlight. You were pacing back and forth in your daughter's room, patting her back and singing Landslide by Fleetwood Mac. The song brought Travis back to that fall night, watching you sing to Javi. He stood in the doorway, smiling gently, watching as you gently laid the girl in her crib.
Travis often found himself thinking that his first dream about you was some sort of prophecy, and in a way, maybe it was. The house. The baby girl. Everything had come true, in some way.
You nudged him out of the doorframe, quietly shutting the door behind you.
"I always liked hearing you sing that song." Travis said, taking your hand in his. He ran his thumb over your knuckles, catching on the wedding band you wore. It wasn't the biggest diamond, Jeff had pointed out at his and Shauna's wedding, but Travis knew you never cared about those material things.
"Oh, believe me, I know." You said, kissing him.
--------------------------------------------------------
Yay final part! So sorry for how long it took me to write this my life got super hectic and I also hit writers block lol. I also don't rlly know how I feel about this chapter, but I hope you guys enjoy!!

What fo you think about the fact a lot of the fandom hates Shauna since the start of the first season? Do you think it is justifed?
People can hate whomever they want! I think it's silly to watch this show and moralize the characters.
But to delve into it... I think hating Shauna is lazy. I think picking a character to hate in a show about complex trauma who is showing signs of complex trauma means you don't understand what the show is about. Many people on TikTok are on and on about what an awful person Shauna is and has always been, but fail to acknowledge that teenage girls make selfish & hurtful mistakes and she is, at the start of the show in 2021, living her life in a cage made of Jackie's bones so she doesn't become her wilderness self anyone ever again.
(long post under the cut)
When people draw the line at her beating the shit out of Lottie (which I think is a bad thing, btw, beating up Lottie was not a good person thing to do) I think they're forgetting she's literally experiencing postpartum psychosis. Lottie sees a similarity with her and knows she needs an outlet that no one else is willing to provide, partially because Lottie is suicidal. All of the mood swings, irritability, irrational behaviors she's exhibiting are all very much connected to postpartum psychosis. She was hallucinating, she is experiencing delusions (she hides the baby's corpse because she doesn't want them to dig him up and take him, likely based on the cannibalism sequence she hallucinated) , and she's not well. Of course she's going to be exploding every chance she gets- she is living out of spite at this point!
And the adult Shauna hatred bores me. It's either "she's a pedophile" (media illiteracy), "she doesn't like her daughter" (we see her, in the first season, try to connect with her daughter despite that multiple times and then break down in s2 exactly why she doesn't want to like her daughter), "she's not redeemable", "she's a bitch", "she cheated on her husband" - all things you can say about at least one other adult character.
Shauna is the measuring stick on this show. That's why she's framed as the protagonist. She is the "most normal" in the pilot as an adult despite her micro moments of rage (running for Senator when you promised to stay out of the public eye isn't normal to me, but I love you Taissa never change), she is framed as a teen to be a middle-of-the-road pushover with a drunk temper. She says "Jackie won't like it" instead of "I don't like it". Jackie pushes her around and Shauna doesn't resist.
While Natalie, Misty, (probably Van and Taissa) have trauma, Laura Lee has a suicide attempt, and Lottie has schizophrenia she's managing, Shauna's biggest battle is her friendship with Jackie. She's our straight man.
That's why she gets the most extreme of the adults. Because that's what trauma can do.
The Jeff potentially cheating but actually blackmailing Tai and Natalie triggers her, she acts out like she would as a teenager. Petty revenge with Adam, seeking out danger so she's not just wasting away, anything to distract her from the fact she knows she's pushed herself so far from who she wanted to be. Killing Adam was a trauma response. Everyone coming back together was triggering, Natalie dying in front of them was a huge trigger and she's getting more anxious because what if her daughter turns into her! What if Callie becomes everything Shauna hates because of this! That's made clear in s3 when Callie says "I'm the same age you were" and Shauna is LIVID because Callie has no idea the pains she's going through to survive her existence since then.
Then paranoia/persecution delusions begin. She was triggered, she enters a state of being where her body is trying to find a way to be stable, and the last time she was in this much danger she was going through psychosis. So it appears again because the body remembers how it coped to survive before. She's having delusions again. (And some viewers call her manipulative for believing the delusions which is so fucking ridiculous to me!!) Lottie dying sends her beyond a point of being talked down from this, and it's too late for most ppl who aren't professionals to reach her because they simply don't know what to do.
Shauna is the character that most represents the show thesis of the way the world, girlhood, existing is traumatizing and then youre just supposed to keep living and not bother people with your issues. She's what can happen when you survive the worst things possible only to have to go back and act like everything is fine.
Is she a good person? Of course not. But like she says- "I didn't start out a bad person".
Trauma changes us. Trauma fucks with us.
If you're looking for a redemption story, don't watch Yellowjackets. Healing is a death sentence.

Now that season three is over, I would like to share my thoughts overall of the season, and the series I guess.
It was an okay season, I won't say I didn't like it, because I did, it kept me entertained, but it wasn't amazing. I gotta this feeling that they are trying to retcon the pilot, I think that what they were trying to say with this ep is that the scenes in the pilot is how Shauna remember it, with everybody enjoying the wilderness, having fun, and the hunt as we see in this season finale is how it really happend, everybody being terrified of Shauna, sad that Mari died, that they killed again, which can make sense, but I don't really like it, per se.
Honestly, I want to know how people forgave Shauna and not Misty. For all we know, nobody knew, except Natalie, that Misty broke the black box, as far as they know she, van and nat are the reason they got back to civilization, while nat made the call, misty and van fixed the transmitter, to me that is reason to excuse accidental poisoning, even though the girls hate Misty for no reason since the pilot. I wouldn't forgive Shauna after what she done, she is literally the reason they had to stay a second winter. I wouldn't be buddy buddy with her, the way the girls were, I mean they were so hostile to Lottie, with reason, but not shauna? Literally, what happened? Did they have collective amnesia? Because this a major plot hole, and I don't know how they are going to fix it.
Other then that, i really enjoyed that callie and jeff left shauna, thank god, I found it predictable that Calie would be Lottie's killer, but kinda makes sense, with the full circle thing, going back to the pilot, most of the main girls going back to cannibalism in some way (Shauna, Tai, and kinda of Melissa now), the girls realize Shauna is the problem just like she was in the wilderness, Shauna wanting to go back and be the way she was in the wilderness. I liked that Lottie didn't have a plane scene, because she never actually left the wilderness, other thing that I liked about Lottie was how much she wanted to die in the hunt, she wanted to be choosen so bad, and she was rejected by her god, and she looked so sad, also she totally killed Akilah. Travis being possessed by the spirit of the bitch wilderness and expossing Shauna ass, chef's kiss.
My major theory right now, is that the writers always wanted to make to be a bad person, but they kinda forgot that Sophie Nelisse and Melanie Lynskey were playing the same character, and not two totally diferent people who happened to be named Shauna, and they started to work on season three and the were like "shit, they are the same person, we need to fix it", because all the other adult characters look like they are the aftermath of their teens selfs, while Shauna, is evolving with her teen self, they both started good, if you ignore shauna killing a rabbit and djing to calie's boyfriend and they both became bad as the series progress.

Take 2 at this post cause I accidentally deleted it the first time-
!!yellowjackets s3 spoilers ahead!!
So, I was talking to @fruit-icus (who humbly requested to be tagged) yesterday, about a theory I have. And I really wanna put it on the table before episode 10, jussst in case I’m right. Because then I can say I called it.
I think Walter is a highly likely candidate to be Lottie’s killer. Think about it. You are Walter. Your Girlfriend comes home, drunk, her friend did not care to get her a Taxi, drive her, or call you. She let Misty drive home drunk. And then, as you try to point this out, Misty proceeds to break up with you. She’s not listening, Shauna is clearly bad for her, Shauna doesn't give a shit about her. You want to kill Shauna. But if you kill Shauna, she’ll get it right away. Instead, you think. Who else has Misty complained about…..what about when you first met. She didn't seem too fond of Lottie. They aren’t super close. And Shauna definitely has motive to kill Lottie. She’s easy to frame. Besides, Misty’s a citizen detective! She loves mysteries. Its a win scenario all round! You can make Misty get back with you, drop Shauna and her toxic bullshit, and get rid of the other problem child, Lottie. And Nobody will ever question it.
This, I believe, is Walter’s logic. Kill several birds with one very calculated stone. “Okay, so you have a motive, but where’s your evidence, Kree??” I hear you ask. An excellent question. The answer? DNA. Who swabs Shauna’s DNA in episode 5? Walter. He’s had Shauna’s DNA for a while, and I think we kinda glossed over that. Then, later, Misty swabs Lottie’s nails, gets the DNA analysed, and sends it to Walter because fuck, she can’t do this herself. Walter then calls Misty to tell her, seeming a little too hyped about it, and tells Misty it’s Shauna. Does Misty question this? No. Does Walter give her anything more than his word? Not that I remember. Misty just accepts it as fact, because she’s already pissed at Shauna, and of COURSE she would kill Lottie. Its a perfect cover, perfect execution, everyone thinks Shauna killed Lottie, Misty hates Shauna even more, and he’s talking to Misty again. Successfully swindled. As a bonus, think of Misty’s reaction to whatever she saw on Lottie’s phone…..if its evidence Walter killed Lottie? Then thats an easy way to write in catching him out.
I know that a LOT of people think it’s Other Tai. It makes sense, its an easy answer, and that’s exactly why I think it’s a red herring. Especially with Other Tai in control for as long as she has been, I doubt she wants to kill Lottie. Lottie is connected to the Wilderness, and Other Tai is using the Wilderness to save Van. And I get that’s the same reason people think she killed Lottie, but also like…why the fuck would you kill off the same person who could help you more than anyone else. If she wants to save Van? It seems dumb. It works on a surface level, yes. But it’s too easy, and I think its there to throw us off.

Yellowjackets 03x03
Tumblr media
They remembered this is a horror show and clocked the fuck in.
This episode was insane, are they crazy? Some people were complaining that it was a filler episode, but who cares? It was perfectly written. No men and Jackie.
Van's cancer is basically gone. They assumed that it was because of the people they sacrificed and Tai immediately picked up the candle to call the wilderness. So they have an interesting plot ahead of them. I'm scared Tai is going to start killing people to keep Van alive.
I'm also scared that the one calling the wilderness was another Tai, and we don't know when the real Tai is on screen. They are cute tho.
I wish we could see Misty and Shauna together in every episode. They are so funny. Also, I love that Shauna doesn't play about her minivan.
Lottie needs to back up a bit, actually. I did suspect her not having a place to stay was a lie, but what does she want with Shauna? Why is she using Callie to get to Shauna? That's a crazy way to get Shauna into anything. Leave Shauna's kids alone
The necklace means Callie is the next sacrifice in Shauna's mind. I assumed that's why Lottie said "I never meant what you thought it meant".
Tumblr media
Melanie's acting when she saw Jackie's necklace on Callie, that's an emmy worthy performance. The tears, the "Get the fuck out of my house" the way she looked at Callie after. Now Callie knows the meaning of "We are all scared of your mom". Wilderness Shauna was about to come out and beat the hell out of Lottie, again.
That opening with Mari and Ben was hilarious. I'm sorry but how can you want Mari to be pit girl?
Some people were dragging my girl Shauna for being angry and mean last episode, just for her to be the pookiest character in this one. That conversation with Melissa was the best. She doesn't know how to act so she acts all tough, and she probably feels lonely. My babygirl.
She can't even mourn her best friend and son in peace, bc Lottie's cult mentality doesn't leave her alone.
Melissa had to take one for the team.
Tumblr media
No doubt she is a dork. Getting little braids to go to talk to Shauna, girl she would rip them off if you give her a reason. But she risked all and now she is about to be with this beautiful brown eye girl.
The hallucination sequences were amazing, and I find it interesting that they picked Akilah and no one of the regular girls. She is probably screwed for eating those berries.
Van and fire, always connected.
Shauna seeing her son throw me a bit ngl. Of course, she is mourning but I've never seen Shauna that maternal. Or maybe because I've always assumed Shauna's biggest loss in the wilderness was Jackie's death.
I want to thank Ella because she has like 10 projects going on at the same time, but she found time to give us Cunty Jackie hallucination.
Tumblr media
The way I gasped when I saw that 9 on my screen. My beautiful girl came back to punish Shauna for kissing another girl. I can't believe Shauna wasn't crashing out at the sight of Jackie. Well, this version of Jackie anyway.
I love the theory that Akilah didn't get a scratch because she hasn't done anything wrong, Van got a deep cut but nothing serious, but Shauna almost died because of what she has done in there.
But what really got me in that scene was Lottie saying "Akilah save her or she'll die. We'll all die" I said before that I believe Shauna was the antler queen because she's the one who gave them permission to eat Jackie and save them from starvation. She'd be the one who kept them alive because she's ruthless and loves them deeply even if she hates them.

yellowjackets headcanons dump!!!!!🐝
cuz these mfs are always buzzing around in my brain like the little bees that they are
• the yjs who got into the most shoving matches on the field are tai and shauna but nat talks the most shit just to rile the other team up lol. lottie also talks shit but in a real sassy way🙄
• jackie loves sweet foods but her mom never lets her eat them so whenever her and shauna go to the mall they sneak to get the biggest ice cream sundae known to man and share it :]
• van used to hold movie nights (at tai’s house) for the team and misty came once but she ate way too many skittles and threw up on the carpet and she wasn’t invited again after that😭
• lottie was a school transfer and didn’t have many friends at first which is why she joined the yellowjackets. the coach was crazy impressed with her skill and jackie started out really jealous and everyone was like ohhh we have a rivalry brewing!!! but jackie quickly came around and she was actually the one who started calling her lottie instead of charlotte
• van & nat were best friends as kids and lived in the same trailer park but when they were 14 vans mom moved to an apt and the two of them stopped hanging out and talking as much but they still have a bond with each other
• van and nat love the movie my cousin vinny and they still quote it all the time
• jackie was a HUGE fan of mia hamm and used to have a poster of her in her room but her mom got mad at her saying it wasn’t ladylike so jackie gave it to shauna but it’s been lying around shauna’s room ever since :[
• misty’s parents are rich doctors or something who are never home so she spends all her time either making super over the top collages of celebrity men or making a diary where she writes about literally everything and cuts out her yearbook and draws hearts around the boy she has a crush on. OR she’s up to some heinous shit researching crazy stuff. i just know she’s wayyyy too into serial killer info. and she’s prob dissected a frog or two in her time
• tai was the only one who was still able to enjoy soccer after the rescue. but i think van would’ve tried and maybe she still casually watched the uswnt until the 99’ers retired but after that she stopped watching.
• a lot of them turned vegetarian after they got rescued. i feel like nat’s vegetarian which is why she reacts like REALLY🙄 to misty when she eats beef jerky in s1 lol. lottie is absolutely vegan
• i like the hc people have that shauna’s jewish. jackie’s christian and she tries her best to celebrate shauna’s religious holidays w her but she always gets shit wrong but it’s the thought that counts right? nats definitely catholic but doesnt gaf
• lottie has a pet cat that she literally adores because it’s all she has to keep her company in her giant house cause her dad tells her not to talk to the maids :/
• nat can’t afford to buy her own guitar but kevyn lets her borrow his and he’s in the middle of teaching her how to play during the time she qualifies for nationals so the only song she knows how to play is come as you are by nirvana
• opposing teams HATE yj set pieces cause nat takes corners for the right side and tai and lottie are tall as fuck so they convert from corners a lottt >:)
• when shit got bad with nat or van’s family when they were younger they’d sneak out of their trailer windows and meet at a specific spot just to hang out and they’d talk all night or nat listens to her walkman and watches van practice tricks on her shitty beat up skateboard
• one time in the locker room nat’s putting a tape into her walkman and shauna notices and brings it up and they start chatting a little about their similar music taste for a minute until jackie appears and sweeps shauna away and nat’s just left there with her eyebrows raised cause she didn’t realize shauna was actually cool like that. LOL
• one day it was raining like crazy during practice and the field was muddy as fuck and tai accidentally slipped and got covered in mud. van’s crying laughing cause tai’s pissed about it until she slips and falls into the mud too. she ends up throwing some at the other girls for laughing at her and jackie gets hit and she’s like “oh so that’s how it’s gonna be huh?” and the next second everyone’s soaked and muddy and laughing and they all have to trudge back to the locker room afterwards and when they walk past coach scott he’s just shaking his head smiling

yellowjackets disney's descendants au
okay so a quick run down of basic roles. these will not directly correspond to everything but it's a basic framework
how the roles line up
VKs
natalie as mal
jackie as evie
shauna as carlos
van as jay
crystal as dizzy tremaine
AKs
lottie as ben
tai as audrey
jeff as chad charming
misty as jane
laura lee as rapunzel and eugene's daughter <3
akilah as tai's best friend in auradon tiana and naveen's daughter. if she has a corresponding role it's probably lonnie?
mari is a madrigal who hates singing. absolutely ABHORS IT
coach martinez as the tourney coach who is also the coach from airbud because i think that's HILARIOUS.
airbud as dude the dog
travis and javi don't really have corresponding canon roles but they're here and i love them
okay so. here is The Vision
lottie has recently been given the crown of auradon. this is due to absentee parenting from king malcolm and his wife, who are off doing vacations because they had so much fairy tale bullshit over the course of their lives. queen charlotte the first decides that it's unfair for the children of the isle of the lost to suffer for the actions of their parents and does some research about who would be the best to invite to move to auradon to test out a relocation program.
tai is the daughter of sleeping beauty who has issues with supernatural sleepwalking, presumably a strange holdover from her mother's curse. she's not entirely sold on lottie's idea, but she tries to give it a chance, at least. if there's anyone who feels stifled by every bit of auradon's pomp and circumstance and Why Don't You Find a Nice Prince or Nobleman to Settle Down With? it's tai.
lottie, tai, akilah, laura lee, and mari are The Tourney Girls. there are some other extras out there but they are the main ones. airbud is the next most important player. he doesn't talk he's just there barking and being Amazing At The Game. travis is there but he hates it. like, absolutely HATES IT. he is so bad at tourney but there aren't enough good players for his dad not to have an excuse to make him play. tai akilah and mari really resent him for Being There, Sucking, laura lee is kind because she feels like she has to be, but lottie actually really likes him. she doesn't talk shit so travis talks nothing but shit. For Her
javi is always around just chilling in the stands and drawing. he goes to the attached auradon middle school.
misty wants to be the equipment manager and do lots of Cool Things TM for Cool People TM but her mom wants her to do certain fairy things. and she HATES IT.
okay so our VKs
natalie- okay so natalie is mal but she has a different backstory. maleficent did not want to deal with raising a kid, but since abortion does not exist in descendants, she dropped the kid off with her dad and peaced out. the dad was clayton from tarzan and natalie never knows who her biological mom is because her canon mom is around and married to clayton. things go basically the same as yellowjackets canon where a year before the events of descendants clayton is beating her step mom and nat gets the gun and he accidentally puts a bullet through his own head. her "step mom" that she never knew wasn't her bio mom throws her out on the streets with nothing but the name of her bio mom and nat, angry and hurting, goes directly to maleficent's lair. maleficent, who never wanted to have a child, is more than happy to have an angry, powerful teenager who presumably killed her shitty ex.
jackie is evie and mrs. taylor is the evil queen. she grows up with all of evie's Must Be Perfect Wonderful Wife conditioning, the knack for poisoning and subtle manipulation, and the love of fashion, but she has source of solace in-
shauna, from a narrative standpoint, is carlos. she's not cruella's daughter, though. shauna is the daughter of one of cruella's goons (take your pick). on the isle there is a very strong expectation that henchkids become henchmen, and this, of course, does NOT work for shauna shipman and her sixteen different complexes. her dad tries to conscript her into following around and doing cruella's kid's bidding at a young age, and it... does not work for her. she has a violent little outburst and then runs away, living on the street and killing animals to eat for a while. she finds jackie instead. perfect, wonderful, Almost Fit for Auradon princess jackie. they clump together and shauna moves into their castle, under the pretense that she's become jackie's handmaiden. (a princess needs a handmaiden, darling). this chafes too, but with jackie's insistence that it's not true, not their real relationship, not anything tangible, it's a lot easier to ignore. they go to school together everyday at the weird little isle school, and shauna is the top of their class. it's hard for that to feel like it matters, though, when the biggest currency in the outside world is fear and the biggest currency inside is Being Jackie. the resentment still happens and chafes, but it's just simmering. it won't boil over until auradon.
van, from a narrative standpoint, is jay, but she's the daughter of madam medusa from rescuers rather than jafar because. van is so white it could blind you. madam medusa has a junk shop just like she did in the world before the isle, and van spends a lot of her time super athletically stealing for it with a lot of parkour. her mother spends all the time she isn't running the shop collapsed on the couch, just like in van's canon. she doesn't really have anyone her own age until natalie, daughter of maleficent, starts upending the power structures on the island and she decides she wants in. they become fast friends, but it's always "second" and "commander", because van never met a power dynamic that she didn't jump on. they also try their hardest to make things as good as possible for the isle kids in their area, but they refuse to admit that. come on, and look weak? dumb
jackie and shauna end up with nat and van pretty soon after they become a They. natalie wrests control of the taylor castle from jackie's mother and the evil queen refuses to surrender, leading to a bitter siege. jackie and shauna finally come out to try to broker a surrender, but natalie steps on jackie's toes and then jackie turns from Perfect Princess to Top Tier Bitch. and then she's like oh shit oh shit oh sHIT i pissed off maleficent's daughter this is going to be-
and shauna's back here getting her hunting knife out like sure, maleficent's daughter might have magic but if she DIES first then she can't use it- and nat just laughs. boisterous, delighted laughter.
"i think this castle's already got a queen." then she glances over to shauna's no longer concealed knife. "maybe two?" they both blush.
natalie, feared daughter of maleficent, setting the isle into a chaos it hasn't known in more than a decade, holds out a hand.
"Truce?" she asks. then suddenly natandvan becomes natandvanandjackieandshauna and they have half the isle under their collective thumb.
but then the invitation comes from queen charlotte for four children to move to auradon, and suddenly maleficent, who is still the most powerful person on the isle, has a single, itsy bitsy favor to demand from the daughter she so kindly took in after her father's death. who she taught to wield the magic she barely knew existed, who she loved and cherished and fed and clothed-
and a plot to steal the blue fairy's wand and dismantle the barrier is born.
how things go in auradon
natalie is torn between what she feels she owes to her mother and the other denizens of the isle, her friends (who are the most important in this equation), and then her emerging feelings for lottie. lottie who is so kind and who trusts her and is trying so hard for her and her friends, who she's so attracted to but is just using (right, that's all this is? right????) who is trying to make her own shitty society better too.
jackie is finally in the land of the royals and is trying to put all that life training to good use, but it's not... really working. we have something resembling the chad plot with jeff and something resembling the doug plot with laura lee, who thinks that jackie is very kind and deserves to be treated better (though their relationship isn't romantic). shauna is standing at the sidelines and crossing her arms and pouting. fine! if jackie wants to get her heart broken by this dumb auradon boy be my guest! i'll just. go do something else. fuck you
shauna and van both join the tourney team, because it's part of their collective How to Infiltrate Auradon Society and Get Lottie's Good Graces plan. also because shauna is very angry right now and needs a physical outlet and van has been cooped up for too long and is gonna go crazy. they're both good enough to make it and travis is like FUCK YEAH I'M FREEEEEEEE
his dad is very upset about this but shauna and van are way better than him already and it's hard to justify making his son do something the kid doesn't want to when there are better options and the nepotism isn't even wanted.
shauna and javi become friends and she encourages his interest in art like. huh. wouldn't it have been nice to have one singular adult who was nice to me? and then does not examine it beyond that. shauna also befriends tai, who tries to show her all of the things auradon has to offer because shauna is the most obviously Intelligent TM of the isle kids.
van flirts with tai a lot, but neither of them make a lot of progress with that because tai is pretty closeted and van is. not trying as desperately as shauna to try to be acceptable TM here.
by the end of the movie, they all decide that they don't want to use the wand to burst the barrier and talk with lottie about ways to help the other kids integrate over here in auradon instead. lottienat happens first, taivan happens second after van starts to commit to being in auradon and tai starts to commit to Going Against Dumb Auradon Rules like Homophobia (I'M A PRINCESS DAMN IT) and learn more about what's up with her sleepwalking with van and also nat. it takes a really long time for jackie and shauna to work things out because jackie keeps trying to force things with prince jeff and shauna finds better uses of her time and energy than worrying about it, but eventually they come together too. and crystal comes too! and she and misty become besties. and misty does not do any insane things, thnx

yellowjackets rant time :)
people whining that natalie’s death was “shitty writing” makes me want to bang my head against the wall. like are you seriously shocked that the show about tragedy and murder has tragedy and murder in it. are you seriously shocked that the show about fucked up people has fucked up people in it.
#same with people who hate van and lottie and tai and shauna and misty and ben and whoever the fuck else for being 'bad people'#'i can't root for these characters!!!!' like lmao way to miss the point of the entire show janet#they're all traumatized people (many of whom experienced that trauma as CHILDREN) and have done awful things and will do awful things again#INCLUDING nat like im sorry you believed that she was the moral compass when the show never explicitly told you that#she's just as fucked up as the rest of them. and thats what makes her interesting#that's also what makes her death compelling and. sorry. WELL WRITTEN#it's tragic and cruel and preventable. and that is the point.#sometimes characters die in media. lmao. and sometimes it isn't well executed#but this was. and it has been set up for a long time if you go back and watch the prior episodes#i understand disliking the finale or the season or whatever. not mad about that.#what i am mad about is equating a personal opinion as an irrefutable fact and proof that the writing is shitty#and sending literal death threats to the writers and creators of a show that have put a lot of work into it#like at the end of the day it's a tv show for entertainment. and you can and should be able to love a character#while ALSO understanding when said character's death is emotionally necessary in a story.#i love nat. but i also understand that her death fits the story. that doesn't make it bad writing by any means#okay im done now#sameera.txt#yellowjackets#yellowjackets spoilers

modern game of thrones/yellowjackets crossover where sansa, arya, and daenerys all go to the same high school. dany is a senior, sansa is a junior, and arya is a freshman. they’re all on the soccer team together and they end up on the plane. how do you think the three girls would cope in the wilderness? how do they get along with the other Yellowjackets girls?
Yay, I'm sober enough to tackle this!
Like Shauna, Sansa doesn't like soccer or really any sports. She joins the Yellowjackets because most of her friends like Jackie, Shauna, Jeyne, Beth, and Mari are on the team and are giving her shit for being such a girly girl. As much as she never learns to love the sport, she gets very efficient at it -- which secretly pisses off Arya, who was on the team first and used it as an outlet for some of her frustrations as an outsider punk Nat type. She's the youngest player.
At first I saw Dany as the team captain, because of course in canon she develops Tai's leadership flair and Jackie's ability to bring people together. But she didn't start that way. She was a shy, miserable girl at the start of AGOT. So I see her as someone who earns the girls' respect because she, like, Arya, uses the soccer field as an outlet and becomes their star player. But nobody actually warms up to her, as she's this ethereal, weird, skittish girl sitting on the fringe of social events, a bit like Misty.
But then the crash!
Sansa, predictably, has a hard time adjusting, just like Jackie. It really takes her awhile to find her place in the group. But like Shauna, Arya gives her a reality check and helps her find things she's good at that are actually crucial to their survival: sewing, picking berries, and rallying the girls with singalongs and stories. Arya helping out her sister improves their relationship, once big sis gets over the shock of her annoying little sis being so mature. She frets every time Arya goes out hunting and prays with Laura Lee.
Jackie starts resenting her for slowly but surely adapting. She'd bonded with Sansa over not being the survivalist type in the beginning of their ordeal, and now here's Stark sewing together blankets and clothes out of the dead bear's fur while singing Alannis Morisette with the group. Prissy little Sansa is better at surviving the wilderness than Jackie, and Jackie can't stand that. It's not long before she starts her passive aggressive routine, and Sansa is pretty crushed. She always looked up to Jackie, similar to how she looked up to Margaery in the show and in the books. That makes Arya really start to hate Jackie's guts, and the two get increasingly nasty with each other.
But the fights never go too far because Dany always steps in. Out in the wilderness she blossoms from a Misty into a Lottie (that sounds denigrating to Misty, and I certainly don't mean to do that. But let's face it, she doesn't quite have the knack of bringing people together. At least not against their will).
Dany's dreams in AGOT are similar in nature to Lottie's visions, so this trajectory makes sense to me. She becomes a spiritual leader as well as a practical one. She kills the bear, she comforts those breaking down, and she inspires people. She makes hard decisions. I don't think she'd go as far as Lottie with the blood rituals and whatnot, as she's also got her eye on the prize like Taissa (the prize being surviving and getting the hell out of there). So I don't see Tai and Nat having as much of a problem with her as they do Lottie, and they're more concerned than upset for her when she starts talking about her visions.
Still, relationships begin fracturing all around them. Sensing the pressing danger, Dany, Sansa, and Arya join up and become the closest team working together, probably along with Tai, Van, and Shauna. It will take a little time for Arya to feel comfortable throwing in her lot with the weird girl who talks about visions of dragons, but she respects her hussle. Romantic, traumatized Sansa goes the Van route of trusting in what Dany sees, although still managing to remain grounded in reality.
Dany will give the go-ahead for eating the dead when the time comes.
All the while, Coach Renly disappears into daydreams about the future he might have had with Loras.

Yellowjackets 3x05
Tumblr media
They have a baby goat too?
Sometimes I forget that Tai was part of the original 4 survivors, and she had an important role in season 1. We are in the mid-season, and she still hasn't done anything relevant. They just pushed her character to the side. I've never been a Tai shooter but damn a character with a double personality who commits terrible acts is a pretty interesting thing to me.
Also, Van was the first person to know about other Tai, and she doesn't see that something is wrong with her? Sammy clocked her immediately. It's so boring that they only talk to each other
And I didn't realized Tai is living in the house and Sammy and Simone moved out. That's crazy Tai. Yet, some people come here everyday to call Shauna a bad mother.
It's fascinating to me how they listen to Lottie, even Shauna respects her. I was hoping they kill Ben. Damn you, Lottie let this man go.
Why does Lottie's Dad need her death to be ruled an accident? Thank god for Misty.
Melissa needs to take several steps back when she mentions Jackie. Like, don't play with me miss hat. I'll give her 5 points for putting Jackie and Jeff in the same category, even though.
I get Melissa said exactly what Shauna wanted to hear, but does Melissa know how insane Shauna is? She had to cut Ben's Achilles tendon for her to get into Shauna's hut.
I cringe every time Melissa is on screen ngl. I do like her and I think her relationship with Shauna is interesting but damn she is so awkward. I thought she brought flowers to Shauna I almost shut down my laptop.
When Shauna told Nat "Don't act like a saint" I do believe that's the difference between Shauna and the rest of the characters, and how the audience perceives them.
We, team Shauna, know that she is unhinged and she'll do and say the unthinkable, but the rest of the characters still have a "morals". So, they are doing terrible things too, but because they act remorseful the audience forgive them.
Teen Misty killed Crystal on purpose, and people hate Shauna more than her.
I hate when they leave things to the audience's imagination. Who suggested that they should cut Ben's Achille? And why? Was it Shauna? Or they asked Shauna to do it?
I hate Walter and I hope he dies next.
That Big Ben was terrifying
Did Walter pay Shauna for hitting her mini Van?
Tai didn't give a fuck about Lottie
Love that they reverse to their younger selves when they are vulnerable.
I bet the Yellowjackets are regretting real bad letting Shauna's leash freeze to death.
Shauna suggesting Nat should kill Ben just for fun.
I wish the Emmys took the teen cast seriously. I'm obsessed with the way Sophie Nelisse has been playing Shauna this season. She is so unreadable that I don't know if she is mad, tired, happy, sad.
Shauna doing that for Mr Matthews even tho he's responsible for the crash was so nice. She is so kind.
Why did Lottie withdraw that money?
Why did Lottie need to stay with Shauna?

1. Are you team Rational or Supernatural?
I lean towards the rational, for sure, but I can’t eliminate the supernatural. 80% rational. 20 supernatural.
2. Who is your favorite teen timeline character? Favorite adult timeline character?
Teen timeline: Jackie. I feel like Ella did so much with a character that could be seen as whiny and annoying. There’s so much to her.
Adult timeline: probably Shauna but it depends on who she’s interacting with. I love her with the YJs and Callie.
Honorary mention to Misty because Christina is just so funny and puts on a great performance.
3. What is your favorite needledrop?
Omg I really don’t remember anything but didn’t Dreams by the Cranberries play when they first swim in the lake? I think it’s that one.
4. What is your favorite ship?
Love Jackie and Shauna. Love Tai and Van (I need to see them immediately post-rescue. I remember them mentioning they went to Shauna’s wedding).
Lovingly delusional and self-aware about Jackie and Nat essentially being 99.5% made up, but I love their separate characters and love to explore their characters together.
5. What is your favorite episode?
Season 1, episode 2.
6. Who do you want the Antler Queen to be?
Funnily enough, Shauna wanting it so bad makes me wanna see her in that position. I don’t think she’ll be the most productive of a leader, but I think she wants the satisfaction and validation and then she’ll just fully hate it. Lol.
7. What is your favorite scene in the entire series?
Misty snorting that cocaine. Like, she DID NOT have to do all that.
8. A theory or prediction you have about Season 3?
I don’t really theorize at all. Idk tbh.
9. Which character do you relate to the most, and why?
Jackie. I also grew up in a way where you always had to be hyper aware of how you present yourself and such.
And I also feel like Jackie is someone who emotionally suppressed a lot. Same.
10. What is the craziest thing you’ve done in the name of Yellowjackets?
Probably successfully convince many people to watch it and not realizing that most people are actually disgusted by cannibalism in media lmao. I got mostly good reviews though.
The network should pay me for advertising.
11. What’s your most controversial Yellowjackets take?
Where do I fucking start lmao.
I struggled so bad with s2. I felt like s1 was incredible and literally magic but then s2 looked visually weird and I had a hard time connecting with it. I definitely loved it a whole lot less. I really hate that shift in me, though.
Travis pointing that gun to Nat is objectively a horrible thing to do and he rightfully gets dogged on by the fandom for it. But it’s unsettling that his sexual assault by the half the team is hardly mentioned and glossed over by the fans and narrative. Idk maybe I missed if s2 kinda addresses it but it felt so odd.
Having ALL the main YJ (minus Jackie and it’s debatable whether LL is main or not) survive removed any tension in the teen timeline for me. I know that every character I care about will survive the wilderness. If any particular issue happened between them in the wilderness, I know that they survive and I know that they’re pretty chill with each other for the most part. Mostly estranged but in s1, I didn’t feel a particularly damning hostility. Shauna and Nat will probably go head to head in s3, but I know that in the adult timeline they’ll just say “you look like shit” and Nat mocks her for Jeff. Am I supposed to feel threatened by them in s3 teen tl? It doesn’t feel like it. The worst thing could happen in the teen tl but it’s okay since I know they’ll all leave minus a couple of side characters I don’t particularly care about.
The bizzare shift in Lottie’s character between s1 finale and s2 is jarring. Why is she suddenly so passive in s2 when s1 ended with her praying to the dirt god holding a bloody bear heart? Where’s my girl who goaded Jackie to leave the cabin? What happened?
This show NEEDS a score. Enough with the needledrops lmao.
Okay I’ll stop here lmao. I used this as an outlet to vent my frustrations. I hope I wasn’t too annoying.
Thanks for the tag, @passionpita-writes and @justratqueenthings
@hangesbelovedexperiment @aspenroman @fairytwles + anyone else
Starting a Yellowjackets tag!
I want to get my mind off of things so: If you want, answer any or all of the questions below and tag 10 people (or however many you want) who also might want to share! I would love to see what you guys have to say!
1. Are you team Rational or Supernatural?
2. Who is your favorite teen timeline character? Favorite adult timeline character?
3. What is your favorite needledrop?
4. What is your favorite ship?
5. What is your favorite episode?
6. Who do you want the Antler Queen to be?
7. What is your favorite scene in the entire series?
8. A theory or prediction you have about Season 3?
9. Which character do you relate to the most, and why?
10. What is the craziest thing you’ve done in the name of Yellowjackets?
Bonus:
11. What’s your most controversial Yellowjackets take?
Here’s mine!
1. I am mostly Team Rational because I love the way this show depicts trauma but I also love seeing the supernatural side of things through the survivors’ eyes if that makes sense.
2. Natalie in the teen timeline because I love her compassion and softness underneath the front she puts on. Lottie in the adult timeline because I love her internal battle with herself and how afraid she is of her own mind. Misty is a close second in the adult timeline!
3. “Cornflake Girl” playing while Nat sees the mossy tree for the first time, Callie seeing the Adam Martin driver’s license in the barbecue, and Shauna eating Jackie’s ear. It just goes so perfectly with everything that’s going on (especially the elevated piano while Nat and Travis are scaling the mountain and the lyrics while Shauna takes the bite!)
4. LottieNat is my favorite ship I can’t help it Nat and Lottie are my favorite characters so having them together is a dream (TaiVan, JackieShauna, and TravNat are up there, too).
5. 1x09 “Doomcoming” is just amazing and captures everything I love about Yellowjackets. I love when they let the girls go batshit crazy, hoping we get more Doomcoming vibes in S3.
6. I want the Antler Queen to be Natalie because that would show a true descent for her in the Wilderness from being the most morally grounded one to the leader of the group at their most unhinged and primal. But honestly I think that Shauna might be the AQ after all…
7. I think the Jackie-eating scene is the best in the entire show. The “Climbing Up the Walls” song choice, the bacchanal feast flashes as a way of coping with the horror of what they’re doing, seeing them go fully feral for the first time, it’s such a well crafted scene.
8. I know this probably won’t happen but I’m just going to throw it out there that Cabin Daughter is alive and she will be revealed to have been Javi’s “friend”!
9. I relate to Shauna the most because I also admittedly have a bit of an obsessive/intense personality and I, too, internalize my emotions to a very unhealthy degree sometimes. I also grew up being in love with my childhood best friend who is very, very much like Jackie (and now we have been dating for 7 years!)
10. Mine is a mix of going to a Yellowjackets panel and sitting like 5 feet from the showrunners, doing everything in my power to score early screening tickets to Heretic and Companion, and pretending I was sick so I could go home early from work the day that the S3 trailer came out.
11. The male characters on this show get too much hate🫢 I like Travis, Jeff, Kevyn, and Walter (even though his introduction and storyline are rushed and forced). I don’t like them more than the female characters, but I like them nevertheless and appreciate their contributions to the plot.
No pressure tags! (I’m tagging 15 bc I feel like it) @before-it-felt-like-a-sin @baked-potatoes-rule @jackiesnats @deerest-deer @whodoesnataliehave @stilllsage @fairytwles @glitterfairy-21225 @lesbianforlottie @tr4vnat @lauraleetaylor @cassioo @natsboygirlfriend @soapyjackets @pinkkkkat @natgf123 +literally anyone else who wants to!
